Presented by: Nate Grgich, Lieutenant for the Sheriff’s Department and a regional expert in Human Trafficking & Michelle Vasquez, Human Trafficking Case Manager at Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center.

Hidden Homicides: The Initial Response

Learn about the critical importance of the initial response in cases involving hidden homicides and how professionals across disciplines can help recognize, document, and respond to these cases.

Presented by: Rob Duncanson, Esq. Rob lost his daughter two years ago due to a violent DV abuser. Rob understands how critical it is for everyone involved to appreciate the importance of the initial response and how we can all be involved in expanding the narrative of hidden homicides. Rob used to also teach crime scene investigations for police academy recruits.

Domestic Violence & Firearms Relinquishment

Featuring Julia Weber, JD, MSW, firearms point person for the Judicial Council and former Implementation Director at Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. This session will examine firearms relinquishment and restraining orders and the critical role they play in survivor safety.

Strangulation Prevention & Education: Breath Play is Death Play

This session will address strangulation prevention, safety planning, and the risks associated with strangulation during sex.

Presented by: Joyce Bilyeu, CEO of the Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center, and Joshua Helton Davis PD Corporal.

 

DVPC Awards Ceremony

Celebrate the individuals and organizations making a difference in our community. The DVPC Awards Ceremony will take place during lunch, and a meal will be provided for all attendees.
